Additional fees may apply for Q or S visas, some jurisdictions, and applications from Chinese descendants.
Return shipping starts at $36 via FedEx; addresses in Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico cost more.
Processing schedules are posted for reference only. Consular processing time is based on submission date and is subject to change without notice.

What do "Validity" and "Stay" mean?

Validity is how long the visa remains valid after issuance — you're permitted to enter China any time before it expires. Stay is how long you're permitted to remain in China per visit, once you've entered.

Service fees are separate from the U.S. Department of State government fee, which is paid directly by check or money order.

Service & payment notes

Processing time is the time the Passport Agency needs to process your application — it doesn't include return shipping, and the day we receive your package isn't counted as a processing day.
Time shown is based on business days.
Service fees may be paid online by credit card, subject to a 3.6% surcharge.
The U.S. Department of State government fee must be paid separately by check or money order.
